Project Description

4MLinux is a miniature Linux distribution focusing on four capabilities: maintenance (by using it as a system rescue live CD), multimedia (for example, for playing video DVDs), miniserver (using the inetd daemon), and mystery (meaning console games).

3.1-installer

This release is designed to be installed to a hard disk drive. The minimum requirements are 90 MB of RAM and 200 MB of free disk space, so this is especially useful for older PCs.

3.1-allinone-edition RC1

This release includes all the applications that are present in 4MLinux-3.1 and 4MLinux-3.1-rescue-edition. Wine 1.2.3 has also been added. Both Wine and Java (JRE 1.6.0_26) are used by 4MLinux scripts to download and run various X applications (so-called extensions).

3.1-rescue-edition

This is an updated version of 4MLinux-3.0-rescue-edition, using 4MLinux-3.1 as a core system. The main applications are: TestDisk 6.13, GNU Parted 3.0, Partimage 0.6.9, Partclone 0.2.29, Clam AntiVirus 0.97.3, Conky 1.8.1, and UNetbootin 563. Support for arj archives (via arj-xenu 1.01) has been also added.

The core components are: Linux kernel 3.0.0, glibc 2.13, and Busybox 1.19.2. All 4MLinux-3.0 applications have been compiled under Slackware 13.37 (x86/32-bit/SMP).

This will be a core system (4.5 MB in size) for the 4MLinux 3.1 series. The system includes Linux 3.0.0, glibc 2.13, and Busybox 1.19.2.
