This release provides important memory leak fixes
for the Xine and Helix audio engines. Also, the
equalizer in the Xine engine has been improved,
and the collection folder handling was fixed.
Support for the latest MusicBrainz library has
been been added.
New features include crossfading for the Helix engine and an equalizer plugin for the GStreamer 0.10 backend. The obsolete aRts and GStreamer 0.8 engines have finally been removed. Many bugs have been fixed, including some important stability improvements.
The 1.4 'Fast Forward' series provides many new features, such as support for USB and iRiver IFP devices, and enhanced iPod support. The collection now also supports WMA, AAC, and RealMedia files, with full tagging support. The XINE engine has true gapless playback and AudioCD capabilities. Support for GStreamer 0.10 and Moodbar (a special audio visualization) has been added. The lyrics download feature is now scriptable and can access multiple lyrics sites. The user interface was polished and simplified, and internal changes have been made to make the application faster and more reliable.
This maintenance release provides fixes for the lyrics search feature, the Helix audio engine, and the scripting system. The translations were updated and extended.
This release focuses on bugfixes, and delivers especially important improvements for users of the Qt 3.3.5 library, fixing a crash when clearing the playlist. There are many stability improvements for users of the Helix audio engine. A build issue has been fixed for the PCLinuxOS distribution. Downloaded cover images will no longer be deleted by amaroK.
