Changes include improved GNOME support, better precision
for the visualizations with GStreamer, and a random track
feature for the Smart Playlists. This release now has built-in
support for the iPod, allowing for data synchronization. There
is a new feature for creating continuous playlists on the fly,
and there are many bugfixes.
The Cover Manager now handles image downloads correctly, and has been made more stable. The Visualizations menu works again. Database scanning is faster due to multithreading. Support for Audioscrobbler has been enhanced with queued transfer and UTF-8 encoding. New features include a flat view mode for the collection, and an integrated amaroK sidebar for Konqueror.
This release introduced full support for Audioscrobbler, allowing for transparent submission of currently playing music to the community site. A 10-band graphic equalizer, MySQL support for the database, and an automatic song lyric display were also implemented. Playlist loading was accelerated by making full use of the internal database. The application's look-and-feel was improved and several usability issues were solved.
This release fixes several bugs in the GStreamer
audio engine, and makes it work on 64-bit
architectures. Some substantial usability
improvements were made, like a new menubar and
redesigned tool dialogs. Additionally, there is
some new eye-candy, like the splash screen and a
shaded background in the Context view.
This release has automatic album cover download, crossfading for GStreamer, and support for the Media Application Server (MAS). It also provides an extended tag editor with Musicbrainz support, integrated CD burning facilities, and a new handbook with many screenshots and useful tips. There is the new music rating system, an animated systray icon, and a welcome wizard for easy configuration.
