New features in this release included crossfading for
GStreamer, custom smart playlists, and support for
the Media Application Server (MAS). There is now
integrated support for CD burning with K3B and an
animated system tray icon. The player window is now
color themable. Many bugs were fixed, especially in
music collection handling.
New features include automatic album cover download, a tag editor with MusicBrainz support, and the built-in cover image manager. The user interface has been polished, and a welcome wizard for easy configuration is available. This version supports the GStreamer and Xine multimedia backends.
This version adds support for the XINE multimedia system for audio playback, further extending the range of supported media formats. XINE offers a modern and reliable decoding framework. Also, there are several bugfixes for minor issues.
This release fixes short dropouts after starting a stream with GStreamer, amaroK starting invisible when the systray icon is disabled, the playlist analyzer looking odd on some systems, filename display in the title column for WAV files, and a compile issue for KDE versions below 3.2.1. A crash dialog is no longer shown when no engine plugins are found.
