Project Description

Ampache is a Web-based audio file manager. It allows you to view, edit, and play your audio files via the Web. It has support for playlists, artist and album views, album art, random play, playback via HTTP with on-the-fly transcoding and downsampling, vote based playback, playback via MPD and Icecast, an integrated Flash player, and per-user themes and song play tracking. You can also link multiple Ampache servers together using XML-RPC. Ampache supports gettext translations and has full translations into many languages.

This release includes all features from 3.3.x except for Localplay/Democratic play. The Classic theme is significantly improved from the Alpha1. There are major improvements to the Now Playing code, and LastFM submissions should increase reliability, and correctly handle almost any player. Limited Album disk support has been added, along with an improved paging system that should lead to a noticeable performance increase.

This release includes a few minor security fixes
as well as a completely revamped LastFM scrobbling
method. Current users of the LastFM plugin will
have to upgrade their plugin by going to Admin ->
Config -> Modules. This release also corrects some
playback issues with Foobar and WMP. It also
implements a stop-gap fix for Audacious 1.3.x's
sloppy file type detection.

3.4-Alpha1

This is the first release of the 3.4 branch. It is a complete rewrite of Ampache into native PHP 5 code. This is an alpha release, and does not have Localplay, Democratic Play, or Searching enabled. As such, this is not recommended for people who are running Ampache in a production environment, or have need of the Localplay functionality.

This release fixes the LastFM plugin, which broke due to a chance in the LastFM handshake format. A fatal error on the genre display page was fixed along with some cataloging corrections for Unknown (Orphaned) albums. A serious bug with the Albums of the moment that could cause an endless loop in very specific conditions has also been fixed.

This release adds LastFM album art searching.
Album Art dump and Folder Art gathering were
improved by allowing for wildcards in the
filename. An issue with some configurations of PHP
that generate session IDs that are greater than 32
chars (non-MD5) was fixed. Numerous other minor
bugs were fixed.
