Project Description

Chestnut FTP Search is a Web application to search
for files on FTP servers. Users can query files by
part of the file name, the entire file name, a
regular expression, or a shell pattern. To store
file indexes, PostgreSQL or MySQL is used.

The network scanner and scanner frontier manager were implemented. The file type search parameter was added. The command line tool to manage the index was added. The possibility to toggle between FTP passive and active mode was added. Minor improvements and bugfixes were made.

New configuration parameters were added to limit
resource loading. A bug in the indexer that caused
mistaken "Possible infinitive loop!" errors was
fixed. The possibility to disallow indexing of
particular paths on particular servers was added.
A new feature to show a list of new files on
servers was added. An indicator of the server
state (online/offline) was added. Performance
improvements were made.

Improvements in the server list page: it will highlight servers with errors in last indexing, and show the error message and error time. New configuration parameters to customize main page content and meta tags. The indexer can work as a daemon process, and automatically detect and fix dead server locks at startup. File structure browsing without connecting to the file server is possible.

A bug has been fixed where the indexer becomes unable to update information when a symlink on a remote server becomes a directory and vice versa. web.py was removed from the distribution. The code was updated to use web.py 0.2 API. and minor improvements have been made.
