Damn Small Linux is a business-card size (50MB) Live CD Linux distribution. Despite its minuscule size it strives to have a functional and easy to use desktop.

An appointment calendar program, a system
statistics program, and Xzoom were added. Dillo
and Xtdesk were updated. bsflite was added for AIM
and ICQ. grub was added to the base system.
frugal_grub and pendrive installs were added to
the base system. Lots more was done.
A "minimal" boot option that uses the Minimal theme was added along with a "lowram" boot command that turns most "options" off and uses the new "minimal" option. Desktop doc apps were moved from tools and wmix from xmms to the desktop section of the menu. pppdial now has its own wmnet. "Upgrade to GNU Utilites" was added to the menu tools section. This also does an md5sum check on the download and install of gnu-utils.dsl.
An Icon layout manager was created for xtdesk. Icon and menu persistence with extensions was improvied. A GUI date/time tool was created. A frugal grub install script was added. rxvt was replaced with aterm and transparency xshell options were added. naim was updated and Bash Burn was replaced with cdw. filetool.lst, xfiletool.lst, and webdata.lst are now hidden. The size of the ISO was reduced by stripping libraries of debug symbols. Many typos were fixed and a 2 button mouse bug was corrected.
New features include a .dslrc to save local mirror
and protocol and a GUI mirror selector for .dslrc.
The mydsl boot time option was enhanced to accept
a directory. Backup/restore now defaults to
/home/dsl, and xfiletool.lst can be used to
specify files and directories to exclude from
backup. The GUIs for ndiswrapper, prism2, and
iwconfig were enhanced for public access points.
Mydsl was enhanced to prevent non-DSL user
corruption. The frugal and pendrive scripts were
enhanced to allow updates. The monkey Web server
was updated to 0.9.1. Busybox was updated to 1.0.
A new "secure" boot time option was implemented, which prompts for root and DSL passwords. A "protect" boot time option that prompts for an encryption password and then triple DES encrypts the backup file was added. A "host" option can also be used to pass the host name. Webdata, a triple DES secure backup/restore to remote FTP servers was added. lspci now displays textual description from the PCI database. A "Add2Filetool" button was added to emelfm to easily select and add files to the filetool.lst. This also works from the CLI. Word view, Excel view, and PowerPoint view were updated to accept spaces in filenames.
