Project Description

EDFbrowser is a multi-platform viewer for EEG, EMG, and ECG storage files. It supports the EDF, EDF+, BDF, and BDF+ file formats. It supports montages, annotations, precise measurements by using crosshairs, and a zoom function by drawing a rectangle with the mouse. It shows signals from different files at the same time. It includes a built-in EDF/EDF+/BDF/BDF+ to ASCII converter, a built-in Nihon Kohden to EDF+ converter (including annotations), a built in EDF+D to EDF+C converter, a BDF(+) to EDF(+) converter and a built-in EDF/EDF+/BDF/BDF+ compatibility checker.

The selection behavior of the signal list in Signals -> Organize was changed. Now you can select multiple signals when organizing the signals on the screen. A bug that caused the wrong signal to be shown when there are duplicate signal names in a file was solved. Now it is possible to start or open multiple averaging windows applied on the same signal. The possibility to invert the wave form of the averaging window was added. A bug that caused an errormessage when trying to open a large file (>2.1GB) on a Mac was solved. Some bugs in the heart rate detection code were removed.

ECG heartrate detection was added; it calculates beats per minute from the ECG-waveform. The possibility to import annotations was added. Mousewheel scrolling was added. The possibility to save the data from averaging as EDF/BDF was added. The possibility to (re-)organize (re-order and/or invert) the signals on the screen in an easy way via Menu -> Signals -> Organize was added. The annotation editor was modified; from now on, annotations with an onsettime more than 24 hours can be edited as well.

The possibility to import and extract triggers and events from or recorded on a dc-coupled channel was added. The possibility to perform "averaging" (evoked potentials or other triggers) using (imported) annotations, events, or other kind of triggers was added. A WAV to EDF converter was added. The Nihon Kohden to EDF converter was modified so that it will use the electrodenames defined by the user in the acquisition software.

This release fixes a bug that prevented it from updating the screen when in streaming mode and after all signals were removed. It fixes a bug in EDFlib.

A streaming mode was added. The stream must be a "growing" file. This mode can be used when you have an acquisition program running that writes EDF or BDF. While the acquisition program writes the data to the file, you can use EDFbrowser to watch (follow) the actual data. EDFbrowser will regularly check the actual file size and show the most recent data. A "moving average" filter model (high- and lowpass) was added. The "View montage" dialogs got a facelift.
