Etherboot is a free software package for making
boot ROMs for booting Linux and other operating
systems on x86, Itanium, Hammer, and Hyperstone
machines over a network using Internet protocols,
namely DHCP and tftp.
Information regarding Project Releases and Project Resources. Note that the information here is a quote from Freecode.com page, and the downloads themselves may not be hosted on OSDN.
This version has an improved tg3 driver, fixes to
various ISA drivers so that the all-drivers image
probes without excessive garbage on screen, fixes
to the WINCE loader, and a proof-of-concept TFTP
to HTTP proxy.
Etherboot is now multiplatform, having been ported to the Itanium and
Hammer. The code has been restructured into platform independent and
dependent parts. It relocates itself to the top of memory, which
removes the 45KB limit on the footprint. There is support for
multicast loading in selected drivers. Generalized URLs can be
specified for load files. There are new drivers for the E1000,
Broadcom TG3, Sundance, TLAN, and Prism wireless NICs. There is
experimental support for signed boot files. The documentation and Web
pages have been rewritten.
