Project Description

FBReader is an e-book reader. It currently works on the Sharp Zaurus, Siemens Simpad with Opensimpad ROM, Nokia Internet Tablet (Maemo platform), Archos PMA430, Motorola E680i/A780/A1200 smartphones, PepperPad 3, Asus Eee PC, IRex iLiad, UMPC, and desktop computers running Linux, Windows XP/Vista, or FreeBSD. It supports several e-book formats: epub, plucker, palmdoc, zTXT, HTML, CHM, fb2, TCR (psion text), OEB, OpenReader, RTF, non-DRM'ed Mobipocket, and plain text.

A segmentation fault on some OEB documents has been fixed. In the Windows XP version, state saving for files with long names has been fixed. In the Windows XP version, a combo box problem has been fixed. Internal HTML links processing has been improved.

An initial Windows XP version was released. Integration with Linux desktop environments (KDE, GNOME) has been added. Opening of external HTTP, FTP, and mail links in external browsers has been added. The OpenReader book format is now supported. New encodings (Vietnamese, Korean, MacRoman, etc.) are supported. A new icon set was created for desktop versions. For Maemo and Sharp Zaurus devices, the package has been split into fbreader and libzlibrary (a platform-independent interface library) packages.
