Project Description

Free-SA is tool for statistical analysis of daemons' log files, similar to SARG. Its main advantages over SARG are much better speed (7x-20x), more support for reports, and W3C compliance of generated HTML/CSS reports. It can be used to help control traffic usage, to control Internet access security policies, to investigate security incidents, to evaluate server efficiency, and to detect troubles with configuration.

A bug with incorrect parameters parsing on Apache has been fixed (not security related). Table row color interlacing via a JavaScript routine has been added. Extended POSIX regular expressions support for filter policies has been added. Meta 'robots' with 'noindex,nofollow' content to meet the recommendations of squid developers have been added to all HTML reports. Syslog-based logs report 2007 as the year now, not 2006. The experimental status for the 'user_unescape' option has been dropped. The count of supported codes has been expanded to 620, and a codes array overflow check has been added.
