GForge is a Web-based collaborative development environment. It's based on a fork of the 2.61 SourceForge code, which used to be available via anonymous CVS from VA Software, but has been extensively rewritten and enhanced.

This release has mass update for the task manager. the ability to move tasks between sub-projects, site-wide switches for turning tools on/off, cron job logging and a simple reporting tool, and the groundwork for a proper Oracle port.
This version includes many bugfixes, along with some new features. There is also quite a lot of work on localisation and Web interface cleanups. It's intended to provide a new stable base for daily usage before starting to work on important changes that might take some time to stabilise.
Jabber is now supported, and system events such as bug submissions can be sent via Jabber and email. The installation procedure was simplified, and dependencies were eliminating by removing sf.net-specific code. A new, easier to navigate interface was included, and the code was cleaned up. Many hacks and optimizations were removed, and foundries and related nonsense have also been removed.
