GLib is a library containing many useful C routines for things such as trees, hashes, and lists. GLib was previously distributed with the GTK toolkit, but has been split off as of the developers' version 1.1.0.

New experimental GSettingsSchema and GSettingsSchemaSource APIs were introduced for the convenience of plugin system authors and those who wish to introspect the contents of schemas. These APIs are subject to change. GDBus lost a race condition and gained thread safety. GIO has several fixes, and was enhanced with GInetAddressMask, a new type for Internet address range matching. The performance of GObject property notifies was improved. Deprecations were updated.
