Project Description

Haiku (formerly known as OpenBeOS) is an operating system designed from the ground up for desktop computing. Inspired by the BeOS, it aims to provide users of all levels with a personal computing experience that is simple yet powerful, and free of any unnecessary complexities. It aims for source and binary compatibility with BeOS R5.

Over 1000 bugs have been fixed since the alpha 3. This release adds a native Debugger application, the ability to generate QR codes in KDL, a keymap switcher application, a 10-band equalizer, pcnet driver, early IPv6 support, and WPA/WPA2 support. Improved BFS robustness, NTFS and Blu-ray disc support, USB OHCI drivers, CPU identification, translations, network card drivers, wireless card drivers, VM settings, and swap file creation logic. Mesa was updated. Support has been added for most Radeon HD chips as well as Intel Extreme chipsets. The R1/alpha4.1 release also fixes two specific issues found in R1/alpha4.
