Project Description

StatusNet is a microblogging platform. A StatusNet site is a lightweight social network that helps a community, company, or group to exchange short messages, files, and data over the Web. Users can choose which people to "follow" and receive only their friends' or colleagues' status messages. It provides a service that is similar to Twitter, Yammer, SocialCast, or Salesforce.com Chatter.

This is a bugfix and minor feature release. It includes new plugins for the Piwik analytics engine and for a templating engine. A new "welcomebot" is included to welcome new users, and there is a new bookmarklet for sending status notices about a Web page. There are numerous bugfixes to make the software more standards-compliant with HTTP, Atom, and FOAF. This is a recommended upgrade for anyone running Laconica.

0.7.2.1

Most of the changes are for developers and admins, and there are only a few user-visible changes. There is an initial version of a Web-based installer, and a plugin architecture for server events. There are sample plugins for Google Analytics and blogspam.net. There's also a new Twitter Search API, and mobile and print stylesheets. From a user's point of view, the new email notification of @-messages and automatic hashtags for all grouptags are the most noticeable. Some bugs with remote subscription were fixed.
