Project Description

LyX is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing based on the structure of your documents, not their appearance. It is intended for people people who write and want their writing to look great without tinkering with formatting details, font attributes, or page boundaries. On screen, it looks like any word processor, but it uses the TeX engine for printed output and producing richly cross-referenced PDFs. It is stable and fully featured.

1.3.0

A fully-functional Qt-based frontend has been added to LyX in addition to the still-supported XForms frontend. Support for "instant preview" of math insets rendered by LaTeX on screen is provided, supported by the preview-latex package. It is possible to spell-check multi-language documents properly if you use pspell. Short titles for section headings and captions can be added. A huge number of other improvements and bugfixes were also made.
