Project Description

NetXMS is a network monitoring and management system with a modular architecture. It can be used for monitoring an entire IT infrastructure, starting with SNMP-capable hardware (like switches and routers) and ending with applications on servers. The system has a three-tier architecture; the information is collected by monitoring agents (either its own agents or SNMP agents) and delivered to the monitoring server for processing and storing, where it can be accessed by using the management console. It features centralized configuration and centralized agent upgrades.

0.2.16

Possible stability issues have been fixed. Cluster monitoring has improved. Management packs are fully implemented (templates, events, and SNMP traps can be exported and imported). A native driver for Oracle has been implemented (ODBC is not required anymore). Microdowell support in the UPS subagent has been improved. Multiple changes in the Windows console (layer 2 topology view, improved graphs, and object search has been changed). Certificate-based authentication has been implemented (works with smart cards, USB tokens, etc.). Multiple minor issues have been fixed.

0.2.15

This release adds initial support for cluster
monitoring, management packs support for easier
deployment on large networks, an SNMP proxy
module, and a subagent for executing ODBC queries
as DCI. The core agent was improved significantly
(with File.* and Process.* parameters). The
internal scripting language now supports the
"switch" statement. The Windows console was
partially rewritten: it has a new object browser,
and its graphs support was improved. Multiple
FreeBSD issues which were found in 0.2.14 were
resolved.

0.2.14

The alarm system was changed, so now the state can
be new, acknowledged, or terminated. Helpdesk
status was added. DCI values can now be pushed to
the server instead of pulled on a schedule.
Thresholds support was dramatically improved, so
states are saved across server restart, and new
thresholds like "data collection error" were
added. Active network discovery was implemented.
Configuration was simplified. The server was
ported to AIX and HP-UX. The agent for HP-UX is
now ready for production use.

0.2.13

Multiple stability/reliability issues have been fixed (encrypted communications and transparent DB connection loss handling). Agent configuration can be loaded from the server. Agent is ported to IPSO (Nokia IP appliances). Support for agent unattended installation has been added to the Windows installer. There is an improved graphs/DCI history viewer in the Windows console. BCM/XCP support has been improved.

0.2.12

This release adds ability to define complicated conditions using "condition" objects, RADIUS authentication, support for compressed MIB files, and support for DRBD device monitoring. The Event editor in the Windows Console was improved. A ENTITY-MIB was provided. The UPS Subagent was completely redesigned, stability and performance was improved, a UPS.OnlineStatus parameter was added, and a problem with occasional APC UPS disconnections was fixed.
