Project Description

Pike is an interpreted, object-oriented, dynamic programming language with a syntax similar to C. It includes a powerful modules system that, for instance, has image manipulation, database connectivity and advanced cryptography. It is simple to learn, does not require long compilation passes and has powerful built-in data types allowing simple and fast data manipulation.

7.4.10

The new machine code generator makes Pike 7.4 the fastest version of
Pike so far and possibly the fastest scripting language of them
all. This release also introduces iterators, a foreach construct for
both indices and values, greater precision in scope handling, a better
Hilfe, and vastly-improved autodoc coverage. Among the new modules are
XML with namespaces support, RDF, and binary relations, setting the
aim for making Pike the first scripting language for the Semantic
Web. Media-oriented people will be glad to see support for SDL, DVB,
ID3v2, and a host of new image formats.
