Project Description

Red-Piranha is a search system that can actually
learn what you are looking for. It can be used as
a Web page, command line, or XML-WebService, so it
will work with most languages, including Java,
Perl, C#/.NET, and PHP. It includes learning
abilities for the Desktop/Internet search
functionality. All feedback from the user is
stored in (editable) XML and RDF, and is used by
the system to improve the quality of searches.

This release features a learning ability, with
feedback from the user saved as RDF. Network links
and scoring (from XML-RDF) adjust lucene
weighting. Speed and stability improvements were
made. Favorites and bookmarks can now be parsed.
Automatic reindexing is done. Load is limited by
giving priority to searches and by parsing
documents in the background. Plugins for easy
extension of Red-Piranha include new data sources
and new methods of searching. Recovery from
external failure during searching, indexing, of
parsing of documents is now possible. Document and
index processing were optimized. Look and feel
enhancements were made.
