Project Description

S.C.O.U.R.G.E. is a Rogue-like game with a modern user interface. The game allows a group of four characters to search for treasure, kill enemies, gain levels, etc.

This version contains major code refactoring, which enables other projects to use the scourge layout engine. Designed levels have been added. For example, HQ is now a multi-level designed map. NPCs have types such as trainer, merchant, healer, etc. You can finally sell your extra items. There are also many improvements, bugfixes, new items, etc.

beginnings of the plot. The game is playable to
around level 6 through the first 3 storyline
missions. There is also some new eye-candy on the
main menu and the party/character editor.

This release contains music and some creature/battle sounds, a simple "save/continue game" feature, better RT combat, locked doors/levers, state-mods that affect battle and render (like possession and invisibility), magical weapons and armor, and more creatures, spells, items, etc. There is also better support for md2 and 3ds models, including automatic sizing and positioning. Finally, there are many other small UI and RPS improvements and a ton of bugfixes.

The main focus of this release is the new optional turn-based
combat system. The code has also been completely
redesigned to support a headless server for multi-user play.
Network play uses SDL_Net and only compiles if you have it
installed. Currently (because of the battle system work)
almost no effort has gone into the network code (chat works,
however). Also in this release are UI layouts (numbered
buttons on the main UI), miscellaneous GUI improvements
and many bugfixes.
