Data can now be recoded using a simple interface e.g. age to age group. The Statistics Test Selection form now provides users with helpful tips and the ability to assess data grouping, normality, and data type when making decisions. When importing CSV files, the user can see a sample displayed and choose a different encoding if it doesn't look correct, especially for non-English characters.
Installation on Windows is now much nicer.
SOFA now copes with being installed in a greater variety of folders. Anything containing 'sofa' is OK.

Online help was integrated. You are now able to look at and manipulate your SOFA data using free and open source tools like Sqlite Database Browser (http://sqlitebrowser.sourceforge.net/). Improvements were made for connecting to Google Docs spreadsheets. Major improvements were made to usability around data entry. You are now able to edit variable details from the table config dialog. Much more useful help is given when errors are encountered while importing CSV files.

A Mac OS X package is available for Leopard and Snow Leopard. The MySQL plugin now works with older versions of MySQL such as 4.1, and allows port details e.g. for remote connections. All database plugins allow empty default database or table configuration details. It is now easier to fill in the connection details in a project. Placement of dialogs on smaller screens was improved so that nothing gets put off-screen. Various error messages were improved to make them more useful.

Three attractive output styles were added - grey_spirals, lucid_spirals, and pebbles. These include background images. It is now much easier to select and switch styles. Crosstabs with column totals and row percentages now have a freq in the total column even if freq not selected. Better guidance is provided when configuring report tables. Configuration settings (e.g. pref output style) persist across dialogs. Last configured row summary measures are the default for new variables added to the table. The expand button opens a much larger viewing window. The application now provides useful error messages even if it fails very early.
