Project Description

TightVNC is a VNC distribution with many new features, improvements, and bugfixes over VNC. It is optimized for faster operation on slow network links such as modem connections, provides more configuration options in the server, features automatic SSH tunneling in the Unix vncviewer, and more. The modified servers and viewers are fully compatible with the original VNC software.

This release adds a new "RichCursor" encoding; the specification for "XCursor" encoding has been changed. vncviewer's -tunnel option now sets the default encoding to "tight". The rules to set the Xvnc default pixel formats have been changed. The X11 modifier mapped to the META key is now Mod4 instead of Mod1. This version is the release candidate for the 1.2 version. Note that the older 1.1p4 version has become incompatible with future releases, so please avoid using 1.1p4, and upgrade to 1.1p5 if you need its features.
