This release added alpha channels, a new tutorial, a
theme update, more unit graphics, animations, and
attack icons, new music, a resting implementation
where units that don't do anything for a turn get few
hit points back, and the Knalgan Alliance, a new
multiplayer faction. Rebels can no longer recruit
dwarves or thieves in multiplayer mode. Ally village
ownership information is shared over fog of war. A
Brazilian translation was included and bugfixes were
made.

The AI has been trained in new tactics, random map generator castle placement has improved, "orcs" are now faster on hills and mountains, elves are a bit faster on mountains, dwarves are a bit faster in forests, and undead are a bit faster and more powerful in swamps. This release adds the Outlaw and Bandit (new units), network data compression, and more unit graphics and animations. There are some bugfixes.

0.6 was a dark release. Asheviere, the evil queen, captured many core
developers and made them insert bugs into the code. These developers
have now been freed by a band of Elves and we can see a new dawn in
Wesnoth development. Be assured that resistance continues. We will not
let Asheviere win this war.
