This release features new support for dissecting syslog, X11, and OSI CLTP protocols, the ability to read NetXray 2.002 files, support for capturing on Linux ATM interfaces, and many code fixes and cleanups.

Many core-dumping bugs were fixed, a workaround for capture problems on RedHat 6.1 was implemented, new GUI and printing options are now available, and an L2TP decoder was added.

New features include loadable decoder support, the editcap utility, new save formats, many GUI fixes and enhancements. The following decoders are new or updated: TNS, ISIS, Gryphon, AppleTalk's NBP and RTMP, IRC, NFS, RCP, GRE, BGP, SNMP, SMB, NetBIOS, IPX, ICQ, RADIUS, VLAN, TACACS+/XTACACS, LLC/SNAP, NTP, ISAKMP, HTTP.

A fix for the SMB decoder segfault bug and other protocol decoder updates, support for iptrace 1.0 (AIX3) files, etter support for NetMon 2.0 and WAN NAI Sniffer traces, ome GUI updates, and color-coded transmitted/received data in the TCP Follow window.

New decoders for RPC, NFS, IGRP, EIGRP, IMAP, LAPD, Q.931, bootparams, ypserv, mount, stat, MAPI, NLM, ILMI, SSCOP, Q.2931, VRRP, HSRP, and Auto-RP; other updated protocol decoders, new GUI and display filter options are available (including "Find Frame" and "Goto Frame"); the ability to filter on IP subnets; and Ethereal can now read traces from Toshiba ISDN routers, ATM iptrace files, and newer libpcap files (like those from RedHat 6.1).
