Project Description

The Working Overloaded Linux Kernel (WOLK) project provides stable and development kernels for either server or testing purposes. These kernels provide a server kernel and also a service for developers and end users who can't be up-to-date with the latest kernels/patches but want to test new kernel features. Patches may be added upon request.

Some bugs were fixed, including Intel i845 DMA timeouts, another ISO9660 memleak, an ioremap off by one bug, an SMP deadlock in the eepro100 network driver, and awful throughput loss when uploading files via scp, NFS, or FTP. XFS has been updated to v1.2-cvs as of 2003-03-09, along with Super FreeS/WAN v1.99.6-rc2, ext3 htree code for 2.4.21-pre5, and Orlov ext2/ext3 block allocator code for 2.4.21-pre5.

Many bugs were fixed in this version including RAID5 disasters, NFS SMP deadlocks, a potential infinite loop with RMAP, a possible ReiserFS transaction overflow when deleting highly fragmented large files, and proper handling of SCSI recovered errors. LVM has been updated to v1.0.7 along with Super FreeS/WAN v1.99.6-rc1, Orinoco v0.13b, IPMI Driver v18, NTFS Driver v2.1.1a, and Broadcom Tigon3 v1.4c.

In this version, ReiserFS data logging has been updated to v36-aa along with CPU Frequency scaling v2.4.20-8, Super FreeS/WAN v1.99.5.1 Final, XFS v1.2 Final, and PROCINFO support (fast ps) v2003-02-23. Recent Athlons now use SSE. O_DIRECT correct EOF at end of reads has been fixed, along with UDF discs closed as iso9660 read errors and incorrect behavior for buffer over 2G write(2) on 64bit platforms.

TCP/IP Lowlatency and sys_sendfile64 were added. vservers 16 (ctx) has been re-added. ReiserFS data logging has been updated to v35-aa, Grsecurity was updated to 1.99c final, Super FreeS/WAN was updated to 1.99-kb4 Final, XFS was updated to v1.2-latest CVS, Broadcom Tigon3 was updated to v1.4, and rmap VM was updated v15d. Some compile errors, unknown interrupt errors, and some SMP deadlocks were fixed.
