PostgreSQLの対応バージョンについて (2008-03-24 20:38 by Anonymous #35733)

データベースとして PostgreSQL8.3 に対応する予定はありますでしょうか？
もし予定がある場合、対応はいつ頃になりますでしょうか？

機能・性能ともに v8.3 で非常に大きく向上しているため、
これからの案件では、現在 TERASOLUNA で対応している
v8.2 はできるだけ使いたくないと考えております。

申し訳ありませんが、PostgreSql8.3への正式な対応表明としては、もう少々先になってしまいます。


以下、非公式ですが・・・、
とりいそぎ先日リリースされたPostgreSql8.3.1にて、Web版について単純な動作確認を行いましたが問題なく動作しました。
基本的な動作レベルでは大きな問題は出ないと思われます。

今のところPostgreSql8.3で問題が出る点としては・・・。
１．暗黙の型変換が行われなくなった
　　暗黙の型変換に頼っていた既存のアプリの移行には、対応が必要になる可能性があります。

２．組み込み言語のPL/pgSQLがデフォルトではインストールされなくなった
　　PL/pgSQLを使ってストアドファンクションを作成している場合には、個別にplpgsqlをインストールする必要があります。

ご回答ありがとうございます。

v8.3への対応時期(予定)はいつ頃になりそうでしょうか？
PostgreSQLのバージョンを決める際の判断材料にしたいと思いますので、
お教えいただければ幸いです。

TERASOLUNAと関係あるかは不明ですが、他に問題点としては、
v8.3からSELECTの結果順序が実行毎に変わる可能性があります。

TERASOLUNAフレームワークのPostgreSQL8.3への対応時期ですが、
申し訳ございませんが現時点では未定です。

正式にPostgreSQL8.3との連携検証を行ったわけではありませんが、
前述の通り、型変換の仕様やPL/pgSQLインストールの問題に限れば、
フレームワーク外の部分で吸収できるものと考えられるます。

PostgreSQL8.3をご利用の際は十分検討された上で
決断していただければと存じます。
