Work-around for large files (2008-04-23 03:51 by gbusch #36239)
I have used Tombo to organize all of the writing I do on my PDA, but the occasional file is too big for the application to open. Removal of the size restrictions in the latest beta versions introduced some bugs, unfortunately, so I dropped back to version 1.17, which is quite stable. As you have probably discovered, Tombo 1.17 can actually open files up to 64kb for reading, although no editing is possible beyond about 30kb.
The work-around I'm using for larger files is really very simple and convenient:
My .TXT files are associated with a programmer's text editor that can open files of any size. If a file is larger than 30kb, I edit it by means of Tombo's "Open by Association" feature in the context menu. This also provides me with search and replace functionality; Tombo's search feature is excellent, but lacks a replace option.
