New feature requests. (2004-03-28 04:21 by johnrylander #8926)
Hi there, and thank you for the _awesome_ program--very impressive. :^)
I use Pocket Informant for my PIM on my Dell Axim Pocket PC, and I've become accustomed to two great features that its Notes have:
(1) syncing with Outlook (import or export might be enough, given that you have a desktop version :) ),
and
(2) Rich Text, so that one can have bullet points, different fonts, boldface, etc.
Any chance either of these could be added?
Also, Alex Kac, author of Pocket Informant, is an awesome guy and the most productive programmer I've even known. I wonder if you could twist his arm ;) into supporting your notes, too? Or vice versa (if you could save things in the .pwi format)?
Anyway, thanks for the great tool! I just found out about it today on the PocketInformant.com forums!

Hi,

With this time, there is no plan syncing with Outlook because I am not use Outlook.
There are many devices TOMBO supports, and there are many Outlooks :-<
But if there are many requests, I may try it.

Now, I am implimenting editor component for TOMBO. These features are will support in the future.

There's definitely an advantage to the fact that Tombo notes are in plain text format: You can easily read them on any computer, even if it doesn't have Tombo installed -- in fact, they can even be read on an old DOS machine. Great for emergency situations, such as a lost or damaged PDA! I keep backups of my PDAs notes on a CF card and also on a desktop PC for just such an emergency. Of course, I make sure not to encrypt the backups!

I recognize plain text's advantage. I like plain text and think simple is best :-)
So I am planning to impliment rich text by XML format or some other markup styles.
I will take questionnaire which format do you like before starting.
Although it is natural, the feature is placed to options and you can treat
*plain* plain text, too.

Tombo's encryption format is platform and device independent.
You can read same encrypted notes on your PDA and desktops.
I use backup tools for syncing on desktops. It is also played the role of backup :-)
