this happen in a widows machine - xp sp2

trying to open a telnet session entering a ipv6 address teraterm instead treats this as a IPv4 address (using a sniffer you can see that teraterm try to resolve ipv6 address as a hostname asking to DNS)

instead if you put a name in the "hosts" mapped to ipv6 address it works

IPv6 raw address must be enclosed in square brackets.

e.g. [2001:db8::12:34:56]
