FUmanchu provides a nice GUI to write and update
weblogs. You manage your weblog locally, and when
you are done writing an update, FUmanchu generates
the new weblog pages in a local directory, or
uploads them to a server. It targets those users
who can't install programs on their Web server hosts.

WolfChat (Perl) is a simple implementation of WolfChat. It was written purely as a challenge and demonstration of Perl socket code.

Using popchecker you can log onto a popserver to see a list of all messages that you have on there, with sender, subject and size for each message. services to the popular BitchX IRC client. It
uses BitchX's built-in plugin system to allow
users to connect to and chat on the ICQ system as
well as the IRC networks. It runs entirely inside
the BitchX application, and uses that
application's standard interface with its
provided commands.

Scurry automates FTP connections, as well as scp connections with Secure Shell versions 1 and 2. It can keep an address book of usernames and passwords for remote servers, as well as the root directory on the remote server and your system. This allows you to automate file transfers such that you could cd into a document tree on a staging server, and upload a file into a different directory on the live server, but keep it in the same relative directory.

Rio (RAM I/O) for FreeBSD is an implementation of the Rio file cache project at Michigan. The basic idea of Rio is to make memory as safe as disk from operating system crashes. Such "reliable main memory" is useful in a variety of contexts, e.g. file systems, transaction systems, or checkpointing.

give other applications real-time capabilities. With
the aid of givertcap, you can run real-time
applications (audio and video -processing apps for
example) with high priority, without running the
application as root. Your application does get
collection capabilities that allow it to run at very
high priority.
