Multiple Devices Proxy is an application proxy to
communicate with pipes, serial ports
(RS-232/RS-485), TCP/IP, and potentially all
devices in a host computer via TCP/IP sockets. It
supports multicast and communication isolation.
Any server may have many resources, e.g. 2 pipes,
4 RS-232, and 2 connected sockets to another
server. Clients may ask for 1 to many of these
resources, and all data will be multicast.

The Linux SMBus BIOS driver is an experimental device driver for Linux that implements SMBus BIOS support in the kernel. It was written primarily for utility programs to query information and the status of a Smart Battery. This driver is distributed in the form of a kernel patch.

waitfordevice is a tool that waits for a device to
become available. One can use this, for example,
when waiting for a USB device to be fully ready
after modprobing the USB subsystem (which runs
async). This tool can be used in startup scripts
or other scripts that need to use a device. It is
better guaranteed to work (and more efficient)
than using a couple of sleep statements.

Flock of Birds Library (libfob) is a C++ interface to Ascension
Technology Corporation's Flock of Birds position and orientation
measurement system.

The NetBSD Ppbus Project aims to remedy some of the
shortcomings of the current printer driver by porting to
NetBSD a more modern implementation of parallel port
support in FreeBSD called ppbus. It allows faster modes
of operation, IEEE 1284 support, and a generic abstract
layer that multiple devices such as printer, PLIP (parallel
port Internet protocol, similar to SLIP), and Zip drives. It
allows bidirectional communication and an abstract
parallel port interface that devices can attach to: the
many chipset implementations of the parallel port will
only have to provide this common interface.

GTDriver is a driver for Prism GT wireless network
cards. It supports, for example, 3Com
OfficeConnect 11g PC Cards. The net throughput is
about 2.5 MB per second.

DS1624 parallel port thermometer is a simple
driver for a thermometer device based on DS1624
and connected to the computer via a parallel port.

Hotplug++ aims to replace the original hotplug
package. It features both scanning cold-plugged
devices (present during boot-up) and real hotplug
events generated for devices plugged into a
running system. It is designed for use in initial
RAM-disks and to minimize execution time.

dsflasher is a utility to flash Dallas (Maxim)
DS89C450 microcontrollers using a ROM loader.

parkverbot is a daemon that prevents hard disk head parking in rotational media. Modern rotational hard disks have a misfeature involving the regular automatic unloading of the heads, measurable by the SMART attribute "Load_Cycle_Count". This causes latency on wake-up amongst other issues (and it cannot always be turned off). The parkverbot daemon will periodically issue small read requests in order to keep the hardware from going to its head-unloaded idle state.

sunosaudioctl is a command line mixer alternative to CDE
Audio Control or Gnome Volume Control.

mousikos is a portable audio/music player manager
for GNOME. It will support on-the-fly bit-rate
peeling (Ogg to Ogg), re-encoding of MP3s
and Oggs, and is based on playlists. It is
designed to be able to support various types
of portable music players.

The Linux IEEE1394 Subsystem provides support for IEEE 1394
(FireWire, iLink). It is available as a patch for Linux 2.2 and
integrated with Linux 2.4.

This package contains software which allows the
use of the Polish Fiscal Printer FP950 (based on
the EPSON TM-U950 / U950P) made by the UPOS
Systems Sp. z o.o. This software is designed for
applications which use the JavaPOS interface for
retail devices.
