XSH (the XML Editing Shell) is a very powerful
command-line shell designed to allow easy
navigation and manipulation of XML documents. XSH
may be used either interactively or for off-line
XML processing (like bash). XPath can be used to
select parts of an XML document to be listed or
processed. The system shell and Perl are also
accessible from XSH in a very natural way. XSH
itself is written in Perl using the XML::LibXML
bindings of the libxml2 library.

regexxer is a nifty GUI search/replace tool featuring Perl-style regular expressions. It's inspired by the project-wide search dialog of the Sniff+ IDE, but aims to surpass it in both usability and features.

queXC is a Web-based data cleaning and coding/classification system that takes a data file (such as data collected from a questionnaire) and cleans the text input fields by spacing them and spell checking them. It allows operators to code text fields to existing coding schemes, or to create a coding scheme on the fly. Multiple operators can code and clean simultaneously, with the ability to assign operators to do particular codes. The queXC system includes some coding schemes created from ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) data. It can be used as an open source replacement for Nvivo in some situations.

BIE (Business Integration Engine) is an open source integration system that makes it easy for organizations to exchange data with external trading partners regardless of their native applications. It competes in the same space as applications like Microsoft BizTalk except that it is truly cross-platform since it written in Java.

outlook2ical is a simple Perl script that converts mail messages produced by MS Outlook Calendar to .calendar file used by the ical program. It handles appointment messages and task requests (with the -task flag).

rtfx converts RTF files into a generic XML format. It focuses on keeping metadata such as style names rather than every bit of formatting. This makes it handy for converting RTF documents into a custom XML format (using XSL or an additional processing step). It used to be called 'rtfm', but was changed due to a naming conflict.

Sman is "The Searcher for Man Pages", an enhanced
version of "apropos" and "man -k". Sman adds
several key abilities over its predecessors,
including stemming and support for complex boolean
text searches such as "(linux and kernel) or (mach
and microkernel)". It shows results in a ranked
order, optionally with a summary of the manpage
with the searched text highlighted. Searches may
be applied to the manpage section, title, body, or
filename. The complete contents of the man page
are indexed. A prebuilt index is used to perform
fast searches.

JiBX is a framework for binding XML data to Java
objects. It lets you work with data from XML
documents using your own class structures. The
framework handles all the details of converting
your data to and from XML based on your
instructions, and performs the translation
between internal data structures and XML with
very high efficiency while still allowing you a
high degree of control over the translation
process.

PostScript::MailLabels builds printer calibration pages, and will generate PostScript code for putting addresses on mailing label stock.

awb combines simple but powerful AsciiDoc markup
with templates, blog and image gallery
generation, and sitemap.xml generation to allow
you to easily maintain and update a Web site.

Sanzang is a compact and simple cross-platform machine translation system. It is especially useful for translating from the CJK languages (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean), and it is very suitable for working with ancient and otherwise difficult texts. Unlike most other machine translation systems, Sanzang is small and approachable. Any user can develop his or her own translation rules, and these rules are simply stored in a text file and applied at runtime.

ChkTeX finds syntax and typographical errors in
LaTeX text.

xmlroff is a fast, multilingual, multi-platform
XSL formatter that transforms XSL-FO documents (or
any XML with an appropriate XSL stylesheet) into
PDF or PostScript. It aims to excel at DocBook
formatting, and it integrates easily with other
programs and with scripting languages.
