Thunderbird PST Import Plugin is a plugin to allow Thunderbird to import a PST file and chose which folders to import. It works on Windows and Linux and uses readpst. It is licensed under the GPL, LGPL, and MPL.

Zimbra is a next-generation enterprise messaging and collaboration system. It features an Ajax Web client with conversation views, fast email search, Web service mash-ups, shared calendars, document authoring, and IM. The server also syncs to MS Outlook (via MAPI), the Apple desktop (via iSync, iCal, and CalDAV), POP/IMAP clients, and mobile devices (BlackBerry, smart phones, HTML Web browsers). A version of the Web client, Zimbra Desktop, also works offline with any POP/IMAP server. Mutt Folder List is a mutt patch that adds a
sidebar showing all mail folders and the total and
number of new messages each contains. It allows
users to hide or display the sidebar with a single
keystroke, and optionally highlights folders with
new messages. Users can scroll up and down the
list of folders and open the selected folder, and
configure the sidebar width, colors, and key bindings.

getmail is intended as a simple, secure, and reliable replacement for fetchmail. It retrieves email (either all messages, or only unread messages) from one or more POP3, SPDS, or IMAP4 servers (with or without SSL) for one or more email accounts, and reliably delivers into qmail-style Maildirs, mboxrd files, or through external MDAs (command deliveries) specified on a per-account basis. getmail also has excellent support for domain (multidrop) mailboxes, including delivering messages to different users or destinations based on the envelope recipient address.
