This release improves the look and performance of the chat windows and makes it practical to use Kit for ICQ. Nickname support allows for UINs or Screen Names to be associated with a label, and ICQ Mode for the chat windows turns off the sending of HTML markup.

Kit is beginning to acquire a polished feel, and a final 1.0 release is nearing. Beta 5 has a .desktop file, new, legal, icons, new options for licensing, and countless interface improvements. Also new since Beta 3 is a profile system, enabling easy access to multiple AIM accounts .
