Translate Toolkit

Improved XLIFF support. Many tools can now work with XLIFF files. More human-friendly XML output. PO output conforms better to gettext conventions. Fuzzy matching in pot2po is now optional. Improved performance, especially in pot2po and pocount. A language module that helps pofilter understand languages differences with provisional customisations for the following locales: am, ar, el, fa, fr, he, hy, ja, km, vi, and zh. The long-standing problem with the Qt .ts converter has been fixed. Improvements in the converters. Some initial support for reading from and writing to compressed files.

Terminology matching was improved; terminology is
now found in simple changes due to noun plurals or
basic verbal changes. Some small bugs were fixed
in pot2po. For example, the Project-Id-Version
header should now be carried over from the POT
file when operating without a PO reference
(template) file. po2txt was fixed for encoding
issues.

Full PO to XLIFF conversion was added. pot2po can
now replace msgmerge and is a better tool to
handle msgid or KDE comments. .properties files
now closely match the template file. Improvements
were made to translation memory. Terminology
matching code was implemented. pofilter was
improved for XML tags and printf checking.

Bug #163 (PO character set not detected correctly) and bug #171 (Error when merging certain translations) have been fixed.

A Python 2.3 incompatibility was fixed. moz2po with source and target languages now does not lose DTD translations that have access keys.
