VCD-db

The most important updates include patches to the
fetch classes. IMDB, Yahoo, and Jadedvideo all had
changed their Web pages in some way, so all or
some data was not accessible for VCD-db. The XML
import/export feature has been rewritten. The
import feature now includes as very nice AJAX
based UI, so users see the import process in real
time. The export files are now time-stamped for
better recognition. Two annoying bugs were fixed,
both related to register_globals = On.

Major changes include a new Web fetch implementation. VCD-db can now fetch data from imdb.com, movies.yahoo.com, filmweb.pl, adult.dvdempire.com, and jadedvideo.com. More sites will be added. Many bugs were cleaned up and user-requested features added.

This release fixes bugs, improves security, and
provides general maintenance. All users of VCD-db
are encouraged to upgrade.

This release includes a lot of new features and bugfixes to all previously known issues. New features include a new Metadata system for custom data, LDAP directory authentication support, support for NFO attachments to movies, support for DVD-specific information such as region codes, subtitles, etc., an improved XML export/import mechanism, four new translations, and a new layout theme. Bugfixes/improvements include PHP 5.1x fixes, PostgreSQL 8.x support (with or without OIDs), and other minor issues.

SQLite support was added. Three new translations
were written for German, Finnish, and Bulgarian. A
statistics page was added for better collection
overview. Other new features were added.
