So far we've been tracking progress towards official freeciv.org Mac builds via build system development tickets. It seems to me that the approach is not working too well. Let's try to track things from the point of view of having the release builds (and not just build system changes) as the goal.
I still hope that we can have such a build of freeciv-3.1.0-beta1, though time is running short.
We have to resolve some build system issues and/or release process issues, as well as get some test builds made in a way that we can confidently make the release knowing that the build from that tarball will work as intended.
---
Related tickets, and my understanding of their criticality vs immediate beta releases:
- Wrong version number: #47392 - blocker
- Environment setup script: #46342 - would be very much wanted at least as the documentation of the build environment (even if it's not working perfectly, people can see the package list in there)
- Build documentation: #46262 - needed at least to the level that an experienced engineer can do the build based on that document (i.e. documentation that is NOT specific to our build not needed - it's available elsewhere)
---
Will also arrange delivery of the release builds to the official download sites, and to update release process to consider mac builds like it does Windows builds.
