Project Description

MiaouIRC is an RFC 1459-compatible IRC client written in Java/Swing. It has some useful features like choosing your Look 'n Feel, customizing your nick friend list, highly verbose logging, searching a keyword in a channel, private message panels, etc. It supports multi-server connections, DCC CHAT, SEND, ACCEPT and RESUME, CTCP commands, nick autocompletions, mIRC colors, autoreconnects, and autojoins. A DCC queue list is available to tracing your leeching activities with IRC FServ.

This release has many code fixes and bugfixes. A
bulb is now displayed next to the nickname on the
nicklist every time an activity is detected for
that nick. All the code has been changed to
supported multiple languages through the gettext
library. The French language is currently
supported. For programmers, communication between
objects is now done with a new MessageListener
interface.

This release adds new features for IRC bookmarks: It is now possible
to autoconnect to IRC servers on startup and to autojoin channels,
depending on your autoperform settings. A primitive HTTP URL grabber has
been added with text importation/exportation. Bugfixes have been made to
the nicklist channels, especially to displaying IRC operators.

Bugfixes were made in the nick list on IRC
networks like OFTC, as well as a minor performance
enhancement. A new (experimental) feature called
"DCC PHONE" was added, allowing two people to chat
with a microphone by streaming audio over the
network. For Linux and FreeBSD, the tritonus sound
package is needed to activate full duplex support.
For Linux and FreeBSD, you can now choose your
default Web browser when clicking on an HTTP URL.
A new LookandFeel was added from SkinLF, called
CellShaded. Some code cleanup was done. The
license was changed to the GNU GPL.

This version features lots of improvement since the last
version. Users have more controls for the CTCP
responses and can now create aliases with a regexp
syntaxes style. Undocking the tab channel, private
message or DCC in a new window is now possible. The
"Visual IRC" 2.0rc5 DCC whiteboard has been
implemented. There are some minor bugfixes
especially for the Linux/BSD version.
