Critical bugs which kept "add folder to share"
from working and which could cause Phex to fail
saving the configuration were fixed. Additionally,
the GWebCache-System was improved for all
platforms to filter out invalid caches, which
could cause the numer of GWebCaches to rise beyond
the 1.000-mark by returning thousands of
GWebCaches.
The focus of this release is on a more intuitive GUI, more configurable
downloads, and more reliable bandwidth throttling. Phex now includes
the www.bluetack.co.uk bad host database, a ban list which blocks known
spam and secret service IP ranges. Language support has improved; Phex
is now completely localized in German and in a funky variant, "German
WortWörtlich". It is now able to read podcast files along with the known
magma lists, and to create custom RSS files with included magnet links.
This release focuses on improved download reliability. Many measures
have been taken to reduce the risk of lost or broken downloads. Phex has
started to integrate improved file verification. Once fully implemented,
it will allow the authors to identify and correct possible download
errors better. To work around Windows XP SP2 limitations and reduce the
number of failed connection attempts, Phex now throttles concurrent
connections on XP SP2.
The main focus of this maintainance release is to
solve the most pressing download problems that
were reported, such as downloads that were growing
beyond their total file size, segments not joining
into a single file, and corrupted segment data.
