Project Description

pstoedit converts Postscript(TM) and PDF files to other vector graphic formats so that they can be edited graphically. The formats it can generate include tgif, fig, PDF, gnuplot, DXF, Java Applets, HPGL, WMF, EMF, LaTeX2e, SWF, and many others. pstoedit's framework can be used independantly by other programs.

A .asy backend for Asymptote files was added. The
handling of some special characters in the LaTeX2e
format driver was fixed. A bug in tracing the
bounding box of raster images was fixed in the
PostScript frontend. A bug in sub path handling
was fixed. The resolution in the standard and free
EMF driver was improved. Support for the WMF
format was removed under non-Windows systems due
to fundamental problems in libemf. Further minor
bugs were fixed.

Support for various platforms was improved.
Options "-filledrecttostroke" (convert filled
rectangles to simple line strokes),
"-usebbfrominput" (use the BoundingBox found in
the input file), and "-mergetext" (allow merging
of adjacent text fragments into one single text
object) were added. A bug concerning the handling
of font names was fixed. Workarounds for WMF and
EMF handling were added. New drivers for gschem
and PCB were added. There were small fixes and
enhancements to the Mathematica, SVG, HPGL, fig,
and MIF backends.
