Project Description

RoadMap is a navigation program for Unix and PocketPC that displays street maps. Most of the maps are provided by the US Census Bureau, and thus only the US has a decent coverage at this time. A specific area can be displayed by entering a street address (street number, street name, city, and state). It interfaces with a GPS receiver through gpsd or the serial line to track the car position. It has been designed to be usable on a Linux desktop or laptop computer, or on a PDA (Linux or PocketPC).

1.0.8

This version adds support for the Digital Chart of the World.
It can now build maps from shapefiles sources (such as the
DCW.). It adds missing error checks, support for GPS with
16 channels, a fix for one division by zero, and now compiles
with GTK 2.4.

1.0.7

This release fixes a problem with the street selection list
(multiple matches on a search by address): the proper
county was not re-activated when selecting a street. It
corrects some potential overflow problems. It now builds
with Qt 3, but should still build with Qt 2 (no source change).
There is a more lenient syntax for the "fuzzy city search": it
skips space characters after the '?'.

1.0.6

This release fixed a crash that occurred when finding roads in several counties while searching the current road. Minimal help based on the HTML version of the README file was added, and its generation was documented. Some minor REAME improvements were also made.

1.0.5

The Familiar package is now built with "-march=armv4 -mtune=xscale". The
sunrise/sunset calculation has been integrated. This information is only
used for display (trip information). A regression occurring when merging
street ranges in buildmap has been fixed. A problem with identifying
merged ranges through the Find/Address.. command has been more or less
corrected. The stacking order for street signs, trip information, and
waypoints has been cleaned. First steps have been taken toward a major
cleanup of the declutter logic.
