AlterLinux is an ArchLinux-derived OS that has been developed by customizing archiso. Japan's first "ArchLinux-derived OS developed in Japan". Enlightenment is a themeable, fast, flexible, and powerful window manager that is designed to be as configurable as possible in both look and feel. In addition, Enlightenment provides an applet API that provides functionality somewhere between the GNOME applet system and Dock Apps from Afterstep/WindowMaker. The current design aim is for Enlightenment to become a desktop shell.

Openbox is a minimalistic, highly configurable window manager. Since it supports the latest freedesktop.org standards and previous standards, it lets you use the latest applications (which may have been intended for use with GNOME or KDE) without a full desktop environment.
